A new pioneer in the development and promotion of RES, ECO // SUN qualified after an International Competition and implemented 150 km southwest of Alexandria, Egypt, a stand-alone hybrid PV system and wind turbine. It is a pioneering pilot project for electrification, pumping and desalination of water in the desert for the purpose of electrification and supply of drinking and irrigation water using mild energy. The whole project was co-funded by the European Union within the framework of the HYRESS program in collaboration with the University of Alexandria, Agricultural University of Athens and the Agricultural University of Athens.
