PVR, photovoltaics: RES statistics for 2012

The fourth place in Europe and the seventh internationally captured Greece in terms of new installed photovoltaic power in 2012. Specifically, 912 new megawatts (MW) of photovoltaics were installed in 2012 or 88% of all the new RES power added in the year passed.

Photovoltaics have covered over 3% of the country’s electricity needs, generating 1.7 billion kilowatt-hours (1.7 TWh) or else 30% of all green energy in 2012.

Thanks to photovoltaics, in 2012 the release of 1.12 million tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere was avoided.
